Class Descriptions

  • OA History 101- an overview of the Order of the Arrow’s history including a Timeline which includes our very own Ittawamba Lodge’s beginnings.
  • Behind the Patch-This class will give you information about our Lodge Patches’ with an emphasis on collecting, preservation and what makes a patch collectable.
  • Communication with OA Members-What communication tools are available for use in your chapter? Do they work? Is there more than one? Come see our options on how to get the best from all of them. . .
  • OA Rep, it is more than a cool Patch-this class will give you a better understanding of your job as an OA Representative. It will help to build the bridge between the unit and the Lodge in order have better participation within the OA.
  • CPR with AED-This is not a certification class but you will gain a better understanding of when and how you should act during an emergency.
  • Ceremonies, the Basics-the class will give you an overview of ceremonies including the Regalia that is worn. If you think you would like to be involved in some aspect with ceremonies this is the class for you.
  • What is an Elangomat-by attending the class you will learn that the role of an Elangomat is the key to an Ordeal candidate/new member to becoming an active member in the OA.
  • Dutch Oven Cooking-You will learn from expert chefs on how to cook the main dish to cooking the most delicious desserts. You can’t go wrong by taking this class!
  • Trapping-the class will be taught by an expert trapper. He will enlighten you on trapping game, how to cure the pelts and much more…
  • Spirit of the Arrow- If you would like a better understanding of where the Spirit of the OA and our Native American Heritage comes from, this class if for you.
  • It is More Than a Sash-Identify how to take to your unit the principles of the OA and the leadership skills to your unit.
  • How to Hold Unit Elections-This class will go through how to hold unit elections which will include a mock election to give you a better understanding of the entire process.
